State federal undercover cops do battle in Colima

A confrontation between police COLIMA Colima and elements of the Federal Police who conducted an undercover operation to arrest a person killed one federal agent.

At approximately 13:00 on Tuesday, the emergency call center of Colima received three reports of the alleged illegal deprivation of liberty of a person in the San Fernando street of the city of Colima, by armed people aboard vehicles with license plates from other states.

State officials said the protocol established for such cases was activated at the time and after identifying the vehicles involved in the alleged "surge" began a chase that extended to the Colima-Guadalajara highway.

According to the Ministry of Public Security of Colima, in this operating units of the Attorney General of the State and the Mexican Army they were involved, plus support from the Federal Police was asked to cut the passage on the highway.

It was reported that on reaching the junction that leads to the villages of Chiapa and Ocotillo in the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, scope given to the vehicles reported and ordered to stop, but they did not.

There the shooting broke out and injured one crew member by a shot gun, who later died in a hospital while receiving medical attention and was identified as an agent of the Federal Police.

"Since the investigations are conducted to clarify fully the fact and determine responsibilities (...) information that has been obtained is that the elements of the Federal Police on board the trucks referred carrying out an operation with a high degree of secrecy for the arrest of a person, so no notice of it to the corporations of the entity was given , "said the government of Colima through a statement.

Given what happened, the administration of PRI Ignacio Peralta Sanchez expressed his solidarity and condolences to the relatives of the federal police who died in the events. "Each of the corporations who was involved in the events attended their respective parcels: the Federal Police conducted an undercover operation, while the rest of the corporations attending the reports made ​​to the emergency number 066 , " said the state government .

In the afternoon, after the shooting that kept closed the highway for several hours, the Federal Police moved in one of its planes to a detainee which has not been identified- to Mexico City.
